The Brookfield District Museum and Historical Society is dedicated to collecting, preserving and sharing the rich history of Brookfield and Upper Brookfield.
Housed within a historic building, the museum features a series of thoughtfully curated rooms showcasing early pioneering families, the evolution of the Brookfield Show and significant moments that have shaped the local community.
The collection includes unique artefacts, historical documents and a growing archive of digitised photographs, alongside oral histories that capture personal stories from generations past. Together, these resources provide a meaningful insight into the region’s heritage and ongoing community identity.
A Historic Building with a Story to Tell
The museum itself is located within a restored Pullenvale farmhouse, originally home to the Pullenvale Post Office from 1879 to 1958. Relocated to the Brookfield Showgrounds in 2004, the building now serves as a fitting home for the museum’s extensive collection.
Exhibits reflect Brookfield’s early role in Queensland’s timber industry, including displays of traditional equipment used during the 1860s when timber was transported by bullock teams and river systems to Brisbane sawmills. The museum also houses a collection of farming tools and historical archives, preserving the legacy of early settlers and their contribution to the region.
Opening Hours
The Museum is open to visitors on the first Saturday of each month, from 2-4pm.

School Visits
We welcome school visits and work closely with teachers to deliver engaging, personalised and object-based learning experiences aligned with the National History Curriculum.
No Parking Available
Brookfield Showgrounds is a pedestrian-only precinct, meaning there is no on-site parking available, with visitors encouraged to use surrounding designated parking areas and access the grounds on foot.
